story board

so basically it starts where someone is walking into a club of some sorts and the first thing you see is an oldstyle jute box. you go towards it and get out a dollar to play it, pust the buttons and let it do it's thing. as it playes it suddenly snezzes which skips the song a bit but it's all good. but then it begings to build up a rather voilent sneeze, slowely, slowely ant then "AHCHOO!!" which in turn stops the music all togeather.... all that's left is an akward silence (just a quick summary)

Ideas

so I need to get ideas for my next project and it has to star a solid object. my idea (and stay with me on this ok?) is to have a old style juke box that sneezes....... (pause for it to sink in)
bad right? well I like it so I'm gona stick with it ok

by the way, a juke box is an old record player they use to have in old cafes and stuff in the 70's

Final Product

After many hardships and nervous break downs I finally finished my first ever 3D film (kinda)

A3 poster of work including paragraph explaining sequence and 3 renders of sequence
Unfortunately due to one section being huge I was unable to render one section of the sequence and sadly had to quickly cut it out in order to piece it together and finish on time (it was taking about 20min per frame and it was doing 100) but it doesn't look so bad (right?)

(unable to upload film, laptop can't do it for some reason)

CCDN 271 Project 1 – Assessing and Critiquing Sources - Hyper Game Guide

CCDN 271 Project 1 – Assessing and Critiquing Sources

The source I have selected to pick at for this assignment is “The Story So Far” A section found in “HYPER - Game Guide - Your Expert Guide To Final Fantasy X-2” a magazines which specialised in walk through for a different game every issue. The relevance of this source is with my theme based on digital craft for my final paper, which is concentrating on how the design of games has changed/developed over the years with time, society, technology, trends etc.

This source describes the layout and story of each Final Fantasy game before the featured game “Final Fantasy X-2” of the magazine. Each description is roughly about one paragraph but some of it seams rather bias as some of the description for different series are nearly half a page in description which may suggest either these are the writers favourites or they just have more detail to go on.

Each section describes the relevant of how they are linked as a series but also how they are apart in differences in styles and themes. It also explains (a wee bit) the way society was like when each game came out for both Japan and America. This is very helpful for my paper, even if it is only a small piece of information per game.

This source is overall quite useful for my report despite being rather small. The amount of information included is rather simplified and very to the point so it makes it easy to expand on it for my project 2 paper.

MDDN 241 Project 1 - ideas of final layout and materials

after a bit of thought and feedback from other students and my tutors I believe I now know where I need to head for my final design for this project. My first concept was starting to look like a solid idea but after hearing feedback from my tutor I realised that it was basically doing the opposite of what they were looking for in turning something complicated and organic into a simple sphere. So here's my new idea with my first concept (stay with me here) reverse the process and make it a sphere being split in rotation and turning into 2 koi.

So my next question is really how to do this and also what materials should I use to make it look good? I mean there's so many elements I need to consider and finalise before I can really get started, such as what style should the koi be in (realistic, ink painted traditional, cartoon etc) so if I was to do this idea (and chances are that I will) then I'll most likely use a texture map like this. I really want to try and make the Koi look like live ink paintings (real traditional Japanese looking) almost like Okami style

Okami by Capcom

If I didn't go for a traditional Ink look then I guess I would do a realistic (or at least a semi - realistic) look  with the finished koi. So real scales for the material map and just edit it on photo shop to get the yin - yang look rather than paint it myself like I was gonna do with the ink okami look.

Like I said, a lot to consider and once I do decide what to do and in what style I also actually have to make it into a 30 to 60sec film where one transforms into the other.

CCDN 271 - Ideas for theme

So here I am in second year (OMG) but I still have to do reports and academic stuff which sounds nothing like design. But there you (and myself as well) would be mistaken, this assignment is actually a huge part of design as a designed of any sought cannot do anything without an understanding of aspects and history of their and other fields. So here's my plan on what to write about for this essay (the draft being due in about a month) so here's my idea for what I'm writing this essay on

Theme (from list) - Digital Craft (so I can do animation!)
Subject Idea - How Gaming design has changed over the years with society (in both theme and layout)

The plan was to mainly concentrate on one game series (such as Final Fantasy!) and show how over time each shows change in key elements such as theme, character design etc. I'm not sure if it'll pass as a good subject idea but for now it's my key interest with design so fingers crossed

MDDN 241 Project 1-A -Concepts

My first concept shows my Idea of having something (more like two things) organic morphing into a solid in-adamant object. The Koi fish are a symbol of peace and balance so the idea is to have two Koi fish, half black and half white swimming together. as they do this they become closer and entwine eventually becoming one and changing into a marble sphere of the yin yang symbol

My second concept shows the Earth. The plan is to have it crack at the bottom so the insides fall out in a huge heap leaving the planet hollow, the insides then slowly turn to yolk as they fry and the finished result is a fried egg. I thought this may be a cool idea as it may even symbolise global warming in a way (since the earth is basically being fried by green house gasses)

My third and final concept is quite basic as it's the transistion of a dice turning into an ice cube. The idea was to have the dice drop and begin to spin on one of the edges, as it dose this it begins to grow smaller and transparent untill it eventually stops in a puddle of its self as an ice cube. Basic no? but maby effective enough to do, it may look cool if done properly.

Now all there is to do is choose one and actually make it into a 30 to 60 sec movie - sounds doable
